For Paving: We typically pave from late April through mid-November. New asphalt requires warm ground temperatures and the availability of “hot mix” from local plants, which usually close for the winter once the ground freezes.
For Sealcoating: This has a tighter window, usually June through September. Sealant needs overnight temperatures to stay consistently above 50°F to cure properly.
Because Livingston County weather can be unpredictable, we recommend scheduling your project in late spring or summer to ensure the best durability against the upcoming winter freeze-thaw cycles.
The “cure time” depends on the type of service performed and current weather conditions. Here are our general guidelines for both residential and commercial properties in Howell, Michigan:
For Sealcoating:
Foot Traffic: Usually safe after 2 to 4 hours.
Vehicle Traffic: We recommend waiting 24 to 48 hours.
